Early morning starts

Writer: Paul EastPaul East

How lovely it was to be out at 7 am this morning, the roads were quiet, birds singing, the morning light dappling through the trees, it was perfect…..that perfection was nearly spoilt on my first call!! I misjudged the effort I needed to lift my front wheels off the floor to mount a kerb, only to hit the kerb in its most deflective point, sending the bike backwards as I was propelling forwards, nearly resulting in me going straight over the handlebars. I managed to save myself by using my Crown Jewels as a break. Pride hurt, helmet wonky………..no my actual bicycle helmet had gone a bit disheveled on my head. But it certainly woke me up and alerted me to the constant dangers of cycling.

I dashed round pretty quickly as my cycling legs are definitely improving and getting used to the exercise. I’ve got two rather large deliveries in the next two days, so they will be a test of how much my fitness has improved. No facts tonight my eyes are needing to rest.

Not just a postman.
