Well it’s hardly a day off, I will be in hospital for a day procedure. But to have the day off, I’ve had to work ahead of myself in case that one day might stretch to two if I don’t recover in time. And as I am not needed in hospital till 11, I will still be going out to do the early morning mail deliveries as per usual. My afternoon parcel clients will probably hold their parcels back for a day knowing full well they will still get delivered before any other company can possibly deliver them, and definitely they will get there safer with no damage and not dumped on a doorstep and for less cost, as we continue our mission to help local businesses grow by reducing their mail and parcel costs.
Let’s look at what we do from a buyers perspective. How many times have you gone to buy something but been put off by the delivery costs? If something is gonna cost £20 your not going to be happy increasing that price by 25% when you add on the postage. So you either shelve the idea of buying, shop somewhere else or hope that one day you might actually be in the area of the shop. However if your buying something for £20 and the price only has an extra 15% for the postage it looks a bit more attractive. That’s what we are aiming to do for our local shops, make their products better value for money for their online buyers.
The high street is dying but yet if it went completely we would all be worse off. The only way you can save the high street is by supporting our local businesses, helping them grow, keeping money earnt in this area circulating in this area. None of your massive online stores operate on the Wirral, so why do we constantly fund companies that aren’t sustaining our local communities. If you look at any area as if it were a country, you wouldn’t import everything you bought from another country, funding that country and its people to the detriment of your own community. If tomorrow we all decided to just shop locally it might cost a little extra to begin with as our local shops can’t compete with bigger companies. But over weeks, months and years if everyone kept shopping locally the price would be come more than competitive as our local businesses will rely less on convenience shopping.
