Let me introduce……….our daily numbers.

As we grow as a business I think it’s important to maybe reference our progress and service quality in numbers. So as part of the blog and my ongoing efforts to try to do a daily one (which has been completely unsuccessful in recent times). I am going to start posting up our items delivered for post and parcels on a daily and weekly and include our same day delivery percentage. As this is a new idea I will give some rough estimates as to the months of August and September so we can have something to gauge our progress by.

I know for August we delivered around 1300 items. 950 mail items (5 day delivery) 350 parcels all delivered same day.

For September we delivered around 2700 items. 1000 mail items and 1700 parcels all delivered same day.

Up until the end of last week 15/10 we had delivered around 550 items of mail and 900 parcels, putting is easily on target to eclipse Septembers amounts.

Monday 16th October 2023

Items of MAIL - 62 Monthly total - 612

Parcels - 79 Monthly total - 979 Same day % 98.7

Tuesday 17th October 2023

Items of mail - 55 Monthly total - 667

Parcels - 71 Monthly total - 1050 Same day % 100

Wednesday 18th October 2023

Items of mail - 42 Monthly total - 709

Parcels - 71 Monthly total - 1121 Same day % 100

For the same day % figure that means same day as collection not the day after. We rarely have a parcel that doesnt go out the same day, when there is one it’s generally because we are delivering post by bike to the region the parcel is in the next day. So to save our planet we take the eco friendly option and take the parcel out the following day to save on petrol. We have been asked if our same day percentage figures are going to stay as amazing as this. The answer to that is as soon as that figure goes below approximately 70% consistently it means we have to create another job. Once a job is created the figure then goes back up to as close to 100% as we can.

As we can also see from the figures we actually deliver more parcels than mail. This isn’t something we expected in all honesty, but it’s a great thing. The truth is the parcels side of the business was not meant to start until around spring next year. We got approached to deliver parcels and once we agreed the floodgates opened for several local businesses to jump on board. It’s most definitely the best bit of non forecasting we have done.

Anyway away from the stats, today we delivered mail early this morning to West Kirby and Hoylake with Greasby, Woodchurch and a little bit of Prenton on the way home. It’s without doubt the longest and most tiring of my bicycle runs but also it’s a very picturesque part of the Wirral to be delivering to when the sun is rising. Tomorrow mornings weather looks pretty bad so delivery will go out later when there is a break in the rain, it’s great to have that flexibility to be able to adjust to the conditions, something our competitors cant do.

These blogs are getting ridiculously long.

Not just a postman.
